Creating Unforgettable Performances with Kathryn Claire
Creating Unforgettable Performances – a workshop to inspire you to perform from your heart, connect with your audience, and share your gifts on and off stage.
Tuition is $40. Scholarships are available for all or part of the tuition. Email us at events@peninsulaartscenter.org if interested in a scholarship.
Are you at the beginning of your journey of being a live musical performer and want help navigating the world of gigs on and off stage? Are you a seasoned performer but want to finetune your stage presence and audience interaction? In this workshop we will explore all kinds of topics including setting up and sound check, setting a tone and connecting with the audience, physicality of performance and how to stay calm and at ease (even if you are not!), how to craft a set and any other questions you may have. We will create a safe and supportive environment to try new approaches to your performance and to leave you feeling inspired and ready to get on stage. Please prepare 3 songs to play in a “mini” set. Each participant will share their songs and then we will work shop ideas on how to make their set the best it can be. Wear whatever you would normally perform in. I can’t wait to see you!
Kathryn Claire has spent years cultivating her own style and approach to music as a violinist, guitar player, singer, and songwriter and performer. She has toured, performed and taught extensively in the US, Japan, The Netherlands, India, Belgium and France. Being on stage in front of a live audience is one of Kathryn’s favorite experiences. She loves the way that music can invite an audience to participate and create a unique and transformative experience that cannot be recreated. It is a moment in time. Those moments are some of the most joyful and transcendent for her. Kathryn Claire weaves together stories and melodies rooted in her classical and traditional musical background while infusing each song and composition with an energy and electricity that is palpable. Her musicality and joy on stage is infectious.Margot Merah and Kathryn Claire will be performing as a duo on July 17th at the Peninsula Arts Center. Margot Merah will be sitting in on this workshop and sharing her process and offering support.
